What is Solar Power or PV?

Solar Power or Photovoltaics (PV) is the name of a method of converting solar energy into direct current electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect.
A photovoltaic system employs solar panels composed of a number of solar cells to supply usable solar power.
PV systems range from small, roof-top mounted or building-integrated systems with capacities from a few to several tens of kilowatts, to large utility-scale power stations
PV systems are grid-connected, while off-grid or stand-alone systems only account for a small portion of the market

A heat pump heats water by using energy efficient heating technology similar to that used in conventional air conditioners and refrigerators.

A heat pump works like an air conditioner or fridge, but operating in reverse. The by-product is cool air, where the by-product of an air conditioner and fridge is heat.

Heat pumps move heat (from the air) to the water in the existing geyser and use this geyser as the storage vessel for the hot water.

Heat pumps are so efficient because heat pumps do not create heat energy directly like an electrical geyser using an element.
